We celebrated Benjamin's fourth birthday six days after arriving...guess where? How did you know? Our city has three McDonald's and another one on the way. Surprisingly, there are no other fast food Western restaurants in the city.

We Have Arrived!

What week it has been! After our 7 weeks in Virginia, we traveled back to see family and friends, packed up and flew out. We arrived after 22 hours of traveling with all 19 pieces of luggage, 4 carry-ons, and 1 double stroller! Our first night in the guest house was an experience with all the new sounds, smells, no running water, and mixed-up sleep schedules.

Our second night, the water was turned back on but the apartment plumbing was backing up. Water from the toilet, tub, and drain in the floor began backing up into our apartment. Needless to say, our friends packed us up again and moved us to a team member's apartment.

After several weeks, we are finally into sleeping through the night. We have enjoyed traveling around the new city, getting to know the metro system, meeting our teammates, and hunting for an apartment.

What's Penguin City?

What does Penguin city mean anyway? The name all began when Benjamin, our three year old heard we were moving to Asia. For some reason, he began calling our new home Penguin city. This went on for several months. We tried correcting him, but his mind was set that we were going to a place where there were penguins, twelve to be exact.

As the plane landed, and we announced that we were finally at our destination, to his dismay there were no penguins in sight. Hopefully, we will find some penguins at the city zoo. He now enjoys carrying around his tiny plastic penguins his aunt Kristy gave him before we left the States.
